THE ELEPHANT SHOW, SHARRON, LOIS AND BRAM. THEIR LEGACY
Anyone in Canada knew this trio. Anyone with children, anyone was born in Generation Y, and anyone who loved singing knew of The Elephant Show.
And the most amazing part of this legacy is the fact that these three innovators are Canadian! The internationally known series, which aired in the United States (FOR 10 YEARS), which was also translated into several languages across the world, and that one several awards, was birthed in Toronto! Such an amazing accomplishment.
Sharon, Lois and Bram are at the centre of this franchise that spawned countless merchandise including clothing, toys, PLATINUM CDs, videos, you name it. The Elephant show is considered to be Canada’s most successful brand, especially in our entertainment industry, truly capitalizing on what it means to be Canadian, and actually selling.
Because, let’s be real. The American dream of PUSSY, MONEY, WEED does not necessarily apply to us here on the north side of this continent. Here in Canada we are more influenced and aspire to be something more like Britain, so it is an especially RARE occasion when family friendly themes can mix well AND SELL in an industry that promotes otherwise.
Sharon, Lois and Bram. Where do I begin? Reaching out to every child here in Canada every morning before school, keeping a daughter entertained while waiting for her mother to come home from a late night shift. They are more sort of like televised parents. Raising their audience throughout the years, promoting values and beliefs. An example being, I’m not even Jewish but as a young Filipino Catholic boy I would sometimes be singing Jewish hymns haha.
They’ve had remarkable careers, albums garnering about 2.5 million (yes that’s right), preforming for President Clinton at the White House, and selling out tours for more than 30 years even until now. These three have definitely left a huge mark in Canada.
I wish I could meet them and tell them how much they’ve impacted my childhood.
They were my bestfriends
